Ray240E the combination VHF radio and Class
D-DSC communications system designed for
easy integration with Raymarine products.
The Ray240E system operates from a waterproof
cell phone style handset, has a loudspeaker for
exterior or interior use, and a base station that
can be mounted out of sight.
DSC (Digital Selective Calling) – easier
and quicker than traditional Channel 16 calling,
DSC calls other DSC users (vessels or shore
stations) direct. Key in the MMSI (Maritime
Mobile Service Identity) number (or pull up
the ‘phone style contacts list), select your VHF
working channel and send – it’s like using a
cell phone. Both calling and receiving radios
automatically switch to the chosen channel for
communication.
DSC Distress Call – don’t panic! it’s easy.
Press the distress button on the back of the
waterproof handset, and your boat’s details
(MMSI number), position (using a GPS input)
and time of call are automatically transmitted.
Optional Second Station with intercom
facility – add a second handset and speaker
for full function VHF and DSC communication on
each handset and an intercom between stations.
Hailer and foghorn facility – add a hailer
horn (option) to the built-in programmable
auto fog alert and multiple siren alert tones
to turn your 240E into a VHF hailer foghorn
combination.
DSC Position Request – polls other DSC
equipped vessels and displays their position on
the handset screen. Interface the 240E with a
compatible chartplotter for a DSC ‘pop up’ alert,
making it easy to navigate to another vessel's
transmitted position, be it a friend’s boat or a
‘digital mayday’ location.

alphanumeric keypad.
